Call for Abstracts - Venice 2012We are now less than one month away from the official abstract submission deadline (February 29th) for Venice 2012 Fourth International Symposium on Energy from Biomass and Waste, to be held in Venice from 12-15 November 2012. A Pdf version of the Call for abstracts is available for download by clicking here . All papers accepted for presentation will be published in the Symposium proceedings. Selected papers of appropriate quality will also be considered for potential publication, following the regular peer-review process, on Waste Management Journal (by Elsevier) after the conference. 3rd International Conference on Solid Waste Management and Exhibition during July 16-18, 2012 at Mysore, India The global event is hosted by the Mysore City Corporation jointly with the Centre for Quality Management System, Jadavpur University and International Society of Waste Management, Air and Water with the support of the Mysore District Administration and patronage of Directorate of Municipal Administration, and Dept. of Ecology & Environment, Govt of Karnataka, Dept of Urban Development, Govt of India, JNNURM, Karnataka State PCB, ULBs etc. Different national and international organizations of repute have already been associated with IconSWM in the 2009 and 2011. We expect participation of 800 delegates in IconSWM and decision makers from different ULBs and Government sectors as visitors to the Exhibition from the state and central government in India and abroad. SWAPP conducts Seminar for UC-METC Maritime cadetsOn November 25, 2011, more than 500 cadets from UC-METC and other schools in Cebu attended the waste management seminar at Capt. Susifatro Abella Gymnasium at UC-METC. Of the total students attended the seminar, around 30 students from UC-METC under the CARES program had been sworn in as junior members of SWAPP. The resource speakers from SWAPP and UC-METC took turns in trying to educate the students on the basic solid waste management principles and related topics such as climate change, disaster risks and waste management onboard ships specially presented by UC-METC Campus Director Capt. Arnel N. Malaga. At the end of the seminar, about 30 Maritime cadets under the CARES program was sworn as junior SWAPP Chapter members The overall goal of SWAPP is to develop the young students as SWAPP trainers and advocates of solid waste management in their campus and in other school as well. Last Updated (Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:44) University of Cebu & SWAPP signs MOA for SWAPP Satellite OfficeThe Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the University of Cebu and Solid Waste Management Association of the Philippines (SWAPP) was signed in Cebu City on November 21, 2011 on the first day of the SWAPPCon 2011’s Conference which was themed: “The Way forward for ESWM in a Climate-Challenged World” informing stakeholders about the pressing issues and approaches to current and future SWM challenges. The MOA was signed by UC represented by Atty. Baldomero Estenzo in behalf of Atty. Augusto W. Go, UC President and former Mayor Mary Jane C. Ortega, SWAPP President. The MOA was conceived due to the offer of UC to host the 2011 SWAPP national conference at UC-METC campus and the openness of SWAPP to provide technical assistance to other institutions and communities in other regions nationwide.
